Private Lessons

So you've always wanted to learn how to play mandolin or fiddle.  You've watched all the "free lessons" videos on Youtube.  You've downloaded all of the apps to your phone.

Every stitch of advice you've gotten has been to hire a private instructor.  Why?  You've learned that a private instructor will teach you the proper way to hold the instrument and pick or bow, how to strum and play rhythm correctly, how to practice and how to get those hard to reach fingerings.  A private instructor will teach you the scales and chords you will need to be able to not just play along with recordings, but join a group and enjoy music for the rest of your life!

Adam Sweet has been teaching fiddle and mandolin since 1986.  His first mandolin student was John Riley, aka Johnny Memphis, radio personality and DJ and leader of the Johnny Memphis band.  Since then, he has taught literally hundreds of students of all ages how to play the fiddle, mandolin, mandola and even mandocello.

Sweet plays classical mandocello with L'Esperance Mandolin Ensemble, bluegrass mandolin with The Americana Project, and celtic fiddle with Celticado.  He's frequently hired by area bands such as the Yiddishkeit Klezmer Ensemble, and Klezamir, as well as other area mandolin orchestras and groups.
